I am also stjrges of the black and white format usually used by Sturges and Mark which keeps the focus on the figures themselves as opposed to something garish they are wearing or the color of their surroundings.

Physically and psychically revealing, these deeply felt images are gloriously natural and wonderfully compelling. My favorites of these are the “generational” pictures: These personal reflections shed light on the unique collaborative process by which Sturges’s remarkable photographs are made.
Jorge Sturges did a great job, capturing beauty and melancholia of pubescent children and their families. Arc of the Gurkha Alex Schlacher. These unforgettable images are made from his own circle of acquaintances and family; the settings are their homes and stretches of naturist beaches in France and Northern California. It is truly full of human nature feelings.
Many of the images in this book hold me totally spellbound, even after enjoying it in hardcopy for several years. How everything in each picture is connected with their environment makes for a personal feeling that we have experienced at one time in our own lives. Now in its fifth printing, The Last Day of Summer has outlived and transcended that ordeal, drawing both critical and popular acclaim throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, and bringnig Sturges well-deserved artistic recognition.
